Ray of light
“If you only had 48 hours left to live, would you spend it like you normally spend your weekends? If not, why spend 2/7th of your life wasting your free time? After all, free time isn’t free. Free time is the most expensive time you have, because nobody pays for it but you. But that also makes it the most valuable time you have, as you alone stand to reap the profits from spending it wisely.”

Missing Summer | Shot off the coast of Kauai.
The ever beautiful Ellen taken in my studio almost 5 years ago. This was my first studio shoot. The neighborhood was still sketchy and the only shop near by was a liqueur store.
Today the liqueur store has been replaced with an organic food shop, there are at least two fancy coffee bars and three restaurants on the same block. The abandoned buildings have all been renovated and sold. There is a Marriott across the street and 1-3 million dollar lofts / apartments next door.
My rent has never been raised and getting the elevator to work is equal parts magic, luck and mechanical knowledge. It’s only a matter of time until I am gentrified out of the space - I have been saying that for years now, but it feels inevitable that 2014 will be the last year in my current studio.
I am working on locating something comparable in Boston; 1500 - 3000 sq feet of un furnished commercial space with parking, close to the subway and with few night-time neighbors.
When I put it like that I realize how lucky I am to have had my own concrete playground in the skyline of Boston for as long as I have.
Counting my blessings today with an eye on the future.
I hope 2014 brings you ever closer to the world you want to live in.
